Benchmarking: Track and Report Energy Use
Your annual Benchmarking Report is how you track and share your building's energy use.
This report draws on utility data and building details to measure your building's energy performance using Energy Use Intensity (EUI), a measure of how much energy your building uses per square foot. This helps determine whether your building is on pace to meet its energy efficiency target. Reports are due every year by June 1.
Before you submit your report, take these steps:

Verify gross floor area

Account for parking correctly

Confirm building use types and percentage of total square footage

Check weekly operating hours

Identify special features or facilities

Share your properties in ESPM with Energize Denver.
You only need to do this once.

Claim your building in the Portal.
This is a one-time step for each building you manage.

Submit the Report from the My Buildings or Dashboard Overview page.
Click the Submit button and follow the instructions.

Get Confirmation: Receive notice of submission status and whether revisions are needed.
At this time, compliance with the annual benchmarking requirement will be determined.

Benchmarking Exemptions
Your building may qualify for an exemption from the current year's benchmarking requirement if it:

Was not occupied
-
Was being renovated
-
Is in qualifying financial distress
If you believe that one or more of these conditions applies to your building you can submit an exemption application.
Public Energy
Use Data
Energize Denver requires certain building data to be public, which you can view on the Benchmarking Map.
Only energy and building details are shared; we do not share any personal information.
To request confidentiality, submit a Confidential Data Request with written justification.
Benchmarking Extensions
As you put together your annual benchmarking report, you may come across delays that you cannot avoid. If you need more time to complete your benchmarking report, you can apply for an extension.
You will need to submit documentation that explains the delay and shows how it is preventing you from completing your benchmarking report.
