Choose Your Compliance Pathway
There are two main compliance pathways that small building owners can choose to meet the Energize Denver requirements for buildings 5,000-24,999 sq. ft.:
-
Lighting Improvements
-
Renewable Energy
You only need to follow one pathway to meet the requirements for your building. Learn about all compliance paths and determine which is easiest for your building.
1
Lighting Improvement Pathway
In this pathway, you’ll need to ensure that 97% of lighting fixtures in the building are LEDs.
If you want to work with a professional to upgrade or verify your lighting, use the Lighting Professional Pathway.
If your lighting already meets requirements and you'd prefer to verify yourself, use the Lighting Self-Verification Pathway.
Alternate Compliance Options for Small Buildings
If neither the lighting improvement pathway nor the renewable energy pathway is a good fit, there are four additional options that may work:
1
Energy Use Reduction Option: Show that you reduced the total energy use in your building by at least 15%.
2
Residential Condominium Option: Replace lighting with LEDs and add occupancy sensors throughout common spaces.
3
Electrification Option: Complete a list of prescriptive upgrades OR replace one major piece of gas equipment with an electric alternative.
